Renting a car in Sweden

FhanTom
Planning a road trip through the Swedish countryside next month and trying to figure out the car situation. Never rented outside the States before so I'm kinda clueless about the insurance requirements and what kinda deposit they hold on your card over there. Any tips?

The process is pretty straightforward, just grab your passport, a valid driver's license, and a credit card with enough available balance for the security deposit they block at pickup. Most places include basic third party liability by default, but a collision damage waiver will cost extra and save you a massive headache if you clip a roadside rock on those narrow backroads. You can scope out plenty of options for car rental in Sweden through aggregators like this one https://getrentacar.com/en-US/sweden .

Grab a physical copy of the rental agreement from the counter and snap clear pics of every single scratch on the body before you leave the lot. Rental lots in the Nordics can be dimly lit and gravel worn, so those tiny marks blend right in until they try to charge you for them at drop off.
