Music that feeds the soul

Tiffany
Good day everyone

I’ve been observing how I feel after listening to different genres of music. I realized that I have to limit my exposure to mainstream music; it gives me anxiety and makes me feel “jumpy”, weird. I now listen to ibeyi, urban flora and this meditation playlist I found on Spotify.

I would like to know what do you guys listen to? What’s your favorite playlists/artist?

Hey Tiffany!

I love this question, I love music sooo much and I know what you mean about limiting your exposure to mainstream music.

A few of my faves are Amel Larrieux, Emily King, Lianna La Havas, Little Dragon, deep Afrohouse, mainly a lot of indie soul.

Lalah Delia has this great playlist on Spotify called Energy Cleanse and it's sooo good. I used it if I am feeling a little off or want to chill and meditate. I love it!

Hey Tiffany,

So glad you started this thread. I too like to limit my listening to mainstream music but I would like to have more music that's more of how I want to feel. Some of the lyrics to some songs don't sit well in my body anymore and im becoming more sensitive to the music i listen to. Actually the guest speaker for Soul Mate Relationships Taya Ma has a wonderful album on her website. My favorite song right now is "She Loves She Shines".

Lyrics:

She loves she shines
She labors she knows
She dives she turns
She is reborn she grows

So sweet!!

Some non-mainstream music I listen to:
Men I Trust (love the name of this band lol) - You Deserve This and Lauren, Artists;Karunesh, James Blake, Michael Kiwanuka, Agnes Obel, Ludovico Einaudi . I listen to tones of classical music and lots of different binaural beats and isochronic tones. Alia Mohamed has great playlists on mix cloud. They are belly dancing tunes, 60 a Arabic songs with lots of drums. It's fun to dance to lol

Hello Tarolyn,

Ugh yes some lyrics haven’t been sitting well with me also. I notice the deeper I go spiritually I become a lot more sensitive to various things.

I can’t wait to listen to the music you suggested. I’m going to have a great Sunday lol

oh man do i relate to this post. i've noticed that a lot of the music i listen to now is very chilled out, soothing, and groovy vs. the more aggressive stuff i've listened to in the past.

i like jazz and soul fusion. people like esperanza spalding, matt martians, thelonious monk, sade, sampha, kelela, toro y moi, and alice coltrane.

hope this helps!

love and light
warmth and peace to you

That's awesome! Alice Coltrane is my third cousin. :) I love jazz, neo-soul, classical, and r&b. I've always loved music. It is so healing to the soul.

Hi! I love this topic too because music seems to be one of the primary forms of communication from my spirit so... I also listened tons of different kinds of music and genres my entire life and I've been also running away from mainstream and for my surprise, the latests songs or artist that had messages for me in their songs and that made my heart and my soul jumping, cry tears of joy and laughs about it were mainstream, so don't reject anything! I would love to share just a few examples about it:

Cèline Dion: That's the way it is, I'm alive
Nelly Furtado: Like a bird
Enya: all of her songs, literally. (This one was recommended to me through the akasha and I was freaking out in the beginning..)
Shakira: Amarillo
Britney Spears: I will be there

Maybe it's just that my soul loved the 90's haha.

(Just in case there's any grammar mistake, my first language it's Spanish! Always trying to do my best!)

Have a good week!!!

Brittany - I love your list. Erykah Badu, Amel Larrieux, and Hiatus Kaiyote are always on constant rotation on my Spotify. Amel has been a favorite since her Groove Theory days. Her beautiful soul comes through her music.
